The February 2023 MBE Scores Fell To An All-Time Low; Bar Professors’ MBE Book Can Help Increase Your MBE Scores
The February 2023 MBE mean scaled score fell to an all-time low of 131.1. This is the lowest February MBE score on record.
This was a decrease of 1.5 points from the previous year. Last February’s mean scaled MBE score of 132.6.
Scores have declined 3 points since 2021, when the February average MBE score was 134. The MBE mean score has dropped since 2014.
First-time test takers saw the biggest decline on the February MBE exam, scoring two points lower than their 2022 counterparts on average.
The February bar exam draws a larger proportion of takers who have already failed the exam at least once and who are statistically more likely to fail again than first-time takers. About 72% of the February 2023 takers were likely repeaters, up from 68% the previous year.
Test takers who have previously taken but not passed a bar exam tend to show lower performance on the MBE than first-time test takers, and the majority of this February’s test takers nationwide were repeat takers.
